Victoria's Got a Secret!

Can I tell you something? It's a secret. As much as it may surprise you, Victoria's secret makes hijabi clothing too.. you just have to use your imagination a bit..

Both the dresses above are from victoriassecret.com, why they're hijabi friendly? 'Cuz they're long. Wear a matching cardigan, or longsleeve top on top/under the dresses. A blazer would work as well.. the list could go on but you get it!

You don't have to splurge on footwear - we can all get cute flip flops for a few bucks! You don't even have to splurge on the dresses, all sitting around 60$ -some are more, some are less!

The perfect dresses to wear for that backyard party you were planning. Smoothie party? Just invite your friends, a few tables and bright colored table cloths.. let your imagination go wild, and you can spend more time planning the party now because you have your outfit covered!

Check out all the dresses at:
http://search.victoriassecret.com/exec/

This was one secret I couldn't keep to myself...

Going out, but in a hurry!

Leaving the house in a hurry doesn't mean you have to look terrible! Throw on an easy outfit - this is definetly one!
Tunic! We all have tunics, or long tops.. or even mini dresses we use as tunics! Throw that on over a white pant, and your gladiator sandals. NOWNOW don't leave just yet! As much as that looks good, take those last seconds you have to tie on a thin belt which will spice the outfit up, and make you look like you spent a lot of time putting that together. Throw on a hijab the same color as the thin belt. A big bag that matches is great too - now you're saying, alright Asma, now you're just asking too much, that I have to transfer everything from one bag to another will take too much time!!
But want to know what i do? If I don't have time in the morning (although I usually do since I'm an early riser), I throw my bag with all my stuff in it into the bag that matches my outfit! YEP!! ALL OF IT!
One time a friend of mine said, "You have so many bags!"
I was like, "Yeah they're my favorite accessory"
"Yeah I don't have time to switch bags in the morning" she said.
"Oh! Neither do I!" I laughed and I opened up my bag and showed her the other inside. She burst out laughing.

It's a tip that saves you time, without jeapordizing your outift!!

Also, if you're worried about a thin belt, don't be - it's a thick belt around your waiste that you should be worried about. Thick belts attract a lot of attention, but thin belts just take your outfit up a notch on the fashionable ladder.

Picture Perfect!

So I'm just continuing a post sect that I started waaay back when. I just post a picture or two that I love, and we take a few hijabifashionista tips from there! Here goes...

OK so how fashionable are these mannequins! We best say a masha allah! hehe.. (someone has to set me straight on this one.. if you read my posts right from the beginning you'd know what I'm reffering to haha)

Tunic over jeans? Check.

Floral tops? Check.

I LOVE THEM! We could almost think to ourselves "it's too bad we don't have those kinds of mannequins in our shopping malls.." But then we quickly say alhamdulilah because we don't need those mannequins everywhere for inspiration - for one thing, we can get some inspiration here, and for another, we can walk into our malls, look at the very un-modest mannequins and hijabi-fy their outfits! And voila! We are just too good for this, haha.

BUT! that doesn't mean we can't take a few pointers from these outfits. Look at the way their hijabs are all tied? All summery and perfect for a beach photo shoot with your friends! (hey, that'd be pretty fun, wouldn't it?).

For ways to tie your hijab, go to the "Check out these sites" portion of this blog and you'll find links to sites that have step by step ways to tie your hijab, like these;

Artistic, Fantastic

Some posts back I posted an outfit I created where you wear all nuetrals and that add that POP of color in your outfit to spice it up!

How about a body of pop? This chic outfit can easily be imitated with a fun take on hijab - big sunglasses, cute colorful flats, a floral top, and color in your pants. They're wide leg, they're fun, they're fab-u-lous! Loove it!

I love to paint, to sculpt and draw - what can I say? I love the arts! So I wanted to express that in my fashion so I created an outfit like this- expression without being subtle about it!

HijabiHelp!!

Salaaaam Sistas! haha

So I'm feeling really good now, because you wonderful ladies are commenting and I'm loving that you're all learning something from my oh so fashionable blog! There IS however another blog that will be very helpful - not exactly hijabifashion, but just islam in general. None of us are perfect muslims, and if we have those questions we need to ask, but don't feel comfortable asking the sheik at the mosque, or our friends or parents etc, then we can just go to

www.hijabihelp.blogspot.com

and ask questions to a knowledgeable muslimah who will do all the research necessary and answer our questions as best as possible (she said it herself! :o)
THE BEST PART?? You can comment annonymously with your question!

Safari Style: Hip Hip Hippo

I was looking over comments that I missed on older posts and one sister had asked me to make an outfit inspired by a hippo seeing as I had already done safari inspired outfits inspired by giraffes, and peacocks.. So here is the outfit inspired by a hippo!

After making this outfit, I realized that even after the hundred and sum outfits I've put together I hadn't used this color combo before - So now i'm all excited to present to you this gray and pink combo! I remember how much some of you sisters liked the purple and yellow and blue and orange combos I presented (just some colors I learned to use in art classes), and so I hope you like this pink and gray equally as much!
Because the 'hippo' was the inspiration for this outfit, and me not being a big fan of the hippo, I thought about what characteristics I could use... usually I go with how confident or fierce the animal is, but no. For the hippo - i went all physical!
Hippos are really.. well, big! So I decided that for the top, I would go with a bubble dress (one of my favorite kinds!) and because they are so round, I went with a round toed flat.
Bubble dress + wide leg jeans + round toed flats + gorgeous hijab = this gorgeous hippo inspired outfit!
Yay for safari inspired style (hothothot this season) and HIP HIP HOORAY FOR HIPPOS!
<3>

For the sister with the short, Chocolate brown dress!

So just today I got a comment asking me how to wear a chocolate brown knee length dress, and I got so excited about this question that I had to answer back with a full post the same day!
Here are 3 ways to wear that dress:
1) This fresh new idea by ME, the hijabifashionista
I'm pretty proud of this idea and was waiting for just the right moment to unleash it to the world on this blog! Thanks sister for providing me with that moment:

So basically I took it that the problem with the dress is that it's too short and doesn't abide by the hijabi dress code -- the hijabifashionista dress code, makes it work for the hijabi dress code. What you do, is buy a skirt that matches the dress atleast somewhat, and wear it under the dress so it looks like a two tiered dress, and you look fabulous! Voila! It's like magic hehe.. but this is 100% halal.
After that, I just made it more hijabi friendly with a chic cardigan and coordinating hijab!

2) Dress it down, and wear it tunic style.

When I say tunic style, I mean with pants under. Regularly (as in non hijabi fashion), tunic style refers to it having leggings underneath it, but considering leggings alone are a no-no, we wear wide legs (which are much cooler, so 'dun worry bout it!' hehe). I saw the silver in the dress, pulled out the cutest silver cardigan i could find, and put them together.
Hijabifashionista tip: Just because the cardigan is short sleeved doesn't mean you can't wear it, you just wear a long sleeve top or sleeves underneath!

3) Accessorize that baby up!
Accessorizing is a lesson I think all hijabifashionistas should know. This means, necklaces, bangles, long sleeve tops, rings, heels, flats (footwear), and so on and so on. That's another lesson, for another time ;) (hey did anyone watch "max the cat" when they were younger? If you did, you'd get the joke haha, if you didn't .., just smile and nod hehe)
If you don't know what colors go with that chocolate brown, I created a diagram-ish thingy showing you which do. The colors are represented with the heels (forget the style of the heel in this diagram - Color was the focussss :D)

This whole post was for you, anon sister - I hope you read it haha :D
But I'm sure anyone who read this learned a thing or two, because this post isn't just for that chocolate brown dress, but it goes for any knee lengthed dress.
If you have ANY questions like this one (or any other for that matter) just post a comment and ask, I love hearing from you, and I love answering your questions!!

HijabiFashionista at a party or at home!

Caftans, caftans, oh the beauty of a caftan. My all time favorite piece of clothing. I can't find anything more flattering, and with all the styles they come in and decorations - I can't find anything more beautiful. This one is definatly one of my favorites-- too bad I can't afford this exact one just yet - it's by Oscar de la Renta, one of the most renouned fashion houses, and definatly one of my favorite designers! Allegra Hicks is also known as "queen of the caftan".. so if you're interested in looking at her designs just google it up!

The caftan I put in the outfit above is soo beautiful, and it's no doubt that even the idea of a caftan is arabian inspired!

For a party you can't dress this caftan up that much more - it's so beautiful already! But you can add to the look with maybe a gladiator sandal that you'll find everywhere nowadays, and some cuffs and bangles. Oh so gorgeous!

You can also just wear the caftan in bear feet just to host some guests in your home and you'll still look stunning! A caftan is also party appropriate! ANNNNND.. it's hijabi friendly, with many styles with long sleeves, and their flowy fabrics, What's not to love about a caftan?

Last time I was in Oman I saw the most beautiful caftans in like, all styles! Over there, there are so many stores devoted only to the arabian caftans. And in the Dubai airport, there were stores there! IN THE AIRPORT! Here in Winnipeg, I'll be lucky to find a few in a store! I'm glad more and more people are wearing them, and more and more designers are designing them, this way, maybe I'll be able to find more in my hometown.

It's like a abaya.. just different.

Do you see those long dresses all over now a days? You must have thought something along the lines of how much you wish you could wear something like that, or that you couldn't wear something like that.
You can! You just have to cover yourself up - and there are many ways to do this.

The idea came from this photo, but the way I did it, dressed it down and made it more hijabi appropriate - even though I think that the look below is gorgeous and would be perfect for a party.

The way above is wearing a black cardigan, black sandals, a black hijab, and a black bag. The reason I'm choosing so much black is because these dresses already demand so much attention, so you want to put more nuetrals and dark colors to make it look more casual, and take some of the attention away.
Another way to wear this: lond sleeve underneath.
The good about these dresses:

-> they're pretty and Oh-so fashionable
-> they cover every curve
-> they flatter everyone

MYTH: you have to be tall to wear these dresses
HIJABIFASHIONISTA TRUTH: For those of us who are tall, alhamdulilah and masha allah, for those of us who are short, alhamdulilah and masha allah. Why? Because we can both wear these dresses, they make everyone look taller.

This outfit is a 'cinch'!

Having more options with fashion when it comes to the hijab should no longer be your dream - not after this blog anyway. Going to the mall, you probably won't see a mannequin wearing hijabi friendly clothing, but rather one wearing a cami and some jeans or a cami and some shorts - something you would think would be really easy - if you weren't a hijabi.

It's easy now too! Just take the cami, and wear a cardigan that coordinates with it (let it be in color or style), some wide legs, your hijab of course, and you're out the door!

Wear the cardigan open just like that, or you can add a THIN belt (white is a good color to buy if you're buying one) and tie it around the cardigan.

NOW, the way a hijabi does this, is crucial to protect her modesty:

At the waist: Is a no-no because you are excentuating (and creating) curves.

At the hips: Is also a no-no. Now you're excentuating the hips! Even wearing it loosely there attracts attention to that area.

THE YES-YES? (hehe): right under the bust. No excentuating there.

if you're not comfortable with that, don't wear the belt at all! The outfit will still be fashionable. I just added the belt because it's an easy way to spice up ANY top. (I do it all the time now).

Now that you know how to put together this easy outfit, you can check "learn more hijab options" off your dream list, and dream about other things1

The World is Your Runway

I want to introduce to you another thing that popped into my head. Wide Leg capris are also so fashionable now a days. So why not take advantage of that? Just because they aren't long, doesn't mean you can't wear them! Don't worry sisters, I'm about to re-inforce that statement hehe. Wear tall boots under them. NOTE: don't buy the wide leg capris that reach right under the knee, but rather the ones that are mid calve, or maybe lower like the one above. The different styles they come in, just create a horizon of outfits for you to create. Here's one I created above!

Making non-hijabi friendly but fashionable looks, Hijab Friendly

I like this look. Preppy, but cool. BUT, by the way her shirt is open, and her pose, this outfit is not hijab friendly (not to mention the mini skirt that's probably under there). I'm here to hijabify this outfit - because when I saw it, I bet myself that I could make a really chic hijabi outfit from it, and I think I succeeded!

I took the black and white combo and instead of an open blouse (that particular style blouse is not flattering to everyone), I chose a tunic. The tunic really contributes to the style we're going for - you can see I didn't choose just any black and white tunic.
see, fashion can be tricky sometimes. For example, the tunic works with the style of the blouse, as does the tie. But the tie doesn't go with the tunic... hmm food for thought. So instead of the tie (which wouldn't go with the style of the tunic) I chose a black thin scarf (don't just use any other black hijab -- to big) to create the same effect, but cooperate with the tunic.
GET THIS LOOK:
tunic: wetseal.com
hijab: simplyislam.com
Cute ballet flats and a hijab with black and white patterns are perfect, and I am LOVING this outfit! What about you?

Gossip Girl inspired - two different style, walking together, unclashing. The perfect mix.

You can look at celebrities and what they where - on the screen, or off. Then, you can create outfits inspired by them. As you can tell from above, I don't mean seeing a mini skirt and buying a mini skirt, or seeing tights and buying tights.. like I always say -- just hijabify (look at me, using this made up term like it's a real word) their look, and make it your own!

For example, a hijabi isn't going to walk down the street in shorts and tights like that, and I wasn't about to tell you to wear wide legs with shorts underneath (HAAAAAAAH!) so instead, I said white wide legs with red ankle boots and a red hijab - you still get the red color pop!

Yet another example is with what serena is wearing (on the left); I took her hoodies and slouchy style and made it hijab chic - a nice tunic hoodie (they sell them at target, even though this particular one is not from there), a mid calve hitting skirt that matches the hoodie and tall boots to cover the rest of your leg. A slouchy bag.

Now you can watch tv shows and not just admire the fashion, but let it inspire you to create your own!

For the sister going skating!

So a sister once left a comment on one of my earlier posts wondering what to wear when going skating. Not and oversized sweater and tights, that's for sure! Anyway, here is an outfit I whipped up. And I'm guessing it's indoor seeing as it's summer, am I right? So you don't have to be all bundled up - but you do want to bring out that hijabifashionista inside of you by dressing to make yourself feel good, and not have to worry about how you look - so you can just, well.. skate!

You don't want to wear a coat, because it won't be winter cold so I'd just wear a jacket with some wide leg pants. INTRODUCING... For those of you who haven't seen them yet.. THE WIDE LEG YOGA PANTS!! perfect for skating because you don't want to be restricted in movement like you would in jeans or khakies. Now, like I said, a heavy coat isn't ideal but if you do want to create the long coat effect, wear a mini skirt that matches closest with your jacket and it will create the illusion that you're wearing a long coat, but you'll be comfortable. Not sure? Think about it this way; you can only get good compliments:
"that's a cute coat" For those who are fooled by the skirt jacket combo.
"a skirt and a jacket? creative!" From those who have figured you out - they'll appreciate your creativity.

I added a picture from an episode of Gossip Girl (love it, cannot wait till next season), where Blair is skating, just in case I wasn't clear enough in my explaination. Hahaha - sometimes I ramble. hehe

.. Hope I helped!

Fashion that Cures!

HIJABIFASHIONISTA TIP:
A HijabiFashionista invests her money in fashion that will help the future of others who cannot help themselves.

Heard of product red? It's a super fashionable line of accessories, bags, and clothing that benifits the fight against aids. They're really starting to get somewhere, and by wearing the clothes like the top i included above, you're raising awareness, showing you helped out, and looking great - all at the same time! Who can argue with that?

GET THIS LOOK:
top: You can buy this at any GAP store, but online at joinred.com

Summer ready yet?

Want to make an outfit better for the summer? White pants! White trousers! White WIDE LEGS! woohoo! I'm soo excited! My friend and I just went shopping yesterday. She was looking at dress pants and couldn't decide between gray or black. Finally I pulled myself away from the summer dresses and walked over to her, and suggested, "why not white?" she looked at me for a second like i was mad, and then she tilted her head and contemplated it. She bought them! I feel great that I helped. I love going shopping. *sigh*

To wear white, or not to wear white. That is the question. NOT. Hijabi Fashionista has the answer: Buy them. WEAR THEM. Imagine the outfit above with black pants... summery? not so much. You can dress white pants up, or dress them down -- it doesn't matter because it always looks great!

HijabiFashionista TIP:
The non hijabi mini dress is perfect as any hijabifashionista's top!

GET THIS LOOK:
TOP: it's a Chloe dress from net-a-porter.com
PANTS: usa.frenchconnection.com

Thus, the question is not whether you're ready for summer, but if summer is ready for you!

POP art in your outfit!

Like I've always said, your style, and your fashion is created by you- inspired by anything around you. This outfit, was inspired by Pop art, something I studied in an art class. Thus, I decided I would use neutral colors in an outfit, and use a piece in a bright color that just POPS and makes the outfit more interesting!

The outfit above is one I created first to look like an alternate hijabi, but then the pop art idea just popped in my head (pun intended) and I decided to make it cooler with a bright belt and even a ring. The look is casual (make note that the cropped jacket is to be left open).

You can imitate this look completly, or you can imitate the idea - because that's what I like to do, provide inspiration for you! I can walk down the street and imagine an outfit by looking at a building, where as some can't, so with this blog, I can convey my ideas to you - inspiring you, like the building did me. ANyway, You can imitate the idea by having one color (diff shades included) and then have a bright color in a piece of clothing you want to bring attention to. For example, wear a black tunic with wide legs (sound fashionable, but a little boring right?) and add a bright blue pashmina around your neck (a black hijab on your head) and your outfit will look super chic! Even bright shoes, or a necklace or w.e will do!

Let your imagination go, and POP!

For the Sister on a Budget!!

Oh! a budget! The horrible word! It definatly limits us from buying whatever we want -- but it does NOT limit us from looking good and being the hijabifashionistas that we are.

Do I have a budget? OH YES! Do I have a wardrobe that I love? OH YES!

you may be wondering, How in the worlddddd??

Sisters, it's taken me a while to master it, but here are my hijabifashionista tips for a sister on a budget:

--> Instead of buying many cheap tops (quality and money wise), Save your money for that one top.. if you save and buy, then save and buy, in a few months you'll have a drawer full of quality top -- because quality is better than quantity. ALSO NOTE: You may not believe in the quality vs quantity theory because it's what your mother always told you, but she's right you know! Walking down the street, people can see the quality in your outfit.

--> DO NOT go shopping with your father :D hahahaaaa

--> Those gifts your grandmother gives you? Unless you're going to her house, don't wear them! (unless either she's fashionable, or you can make anything work -- which is a skill, not a body type!)

--> Go to the mall when there are sales! BUT! This is a big BUT by the way... Don't just buy a lot of shirts just because they're on sale ( this is something I am quite guilty of ). Go to the mall or to that store knowing your max price for either one top, or a max price for that day's budget. For example, one day I'll go to the store telling myself that I will only buy tops around five dollars! FIVE DOLLARS! that's it.. and I got a whole lot of stuff. Wanna know how I do? hehe this is how,

- I walk into a store doing a little de-tour of the mall, pretending that I'm looking at the forty dollar tops and slowly make my way to the 'sale' section, then I get excited. I would buy a few tanks for 5 each, or maybe 10 each. That's ALL! I bought one of those summer dresses from a store here called "Bluenotes" for 7$!

- then I go home, and make those tanks and dress work. Put the dress under the cardigan, the tanks under a cardigan or over a long sleeve, or with a belt, or with beads... accessories are cheap, and great investments!

--> Go into store that sell good quality clothing for less. I KNOW ONE! I'm not sure what countries have this brand, but "JOE FRESH" ? I LOVE IT! People always tell me they would rather shop at the stores in the mall, but when I hear that, I know that they aren't fashionistas. I think to myself, "who are you to say that Joseph Mimran isn't a good enough designer? He's more achieved than the designers that design for the stores you shop at in the mall!" .. and they don't cost much either! If the cost is the same in Joe fresh as it is in the stores at the mall, I'd rather buy Joe Fresh.. any label my fav model Coco Rocha has walked for is good enough for me!

--> Buy tops that are very basic, so you can dress it up, or dress it down. Don't know how? accessories are key!
--> Make our money WORK:
for example:
Did you ever find the "vest" in Investment? (wow I'm good.. I'm copyrighting that! haha). It's proven below:

Set 1: wear it over a long sleeve - black and white is always chic, try it with a different color longsleeve any color will do including blue, or try it over a long sleeve with a lot of pattern on it - the vest breaks up the color on the shirt so you never feel like you're overdoing it.
Set 2: Wear it over a tank top (of course you wear a longsleeve underneath) - Wear it closed on a tank top if the tank isn't too loose, but if the tank is loose, wear it open - it makes you look like you're a fashionista who isn't trying too hard. Hijabifashionista tip: buttons aren't there to close the shirt, but to provide you with the option!
Set 3: Wear it with a formal top or dress : this makes a formal top, more casual. It's funny because this vest worn over a casual top will dress it up, but over a fancy top, will dress it down. : Those white blouses are just pleading for a vest or a cute necklace, that red dress doesn't want to sit in your closet all year so wear it over a longsleeve with the vest over it to make it everyday wear!, OR wear it over a bright formal top - the solid color is begging you to spice it up, and dress it down!
People won't be asking why you're wearing the same vest all the time, Sister you will look skilled!!!
Make your bit of money work for you sisters! <3>

The Boss' Garden Party

Garden Parties are what's up now, so the next time your boss sends an invite to you and your co-workers, don't fret, because the hijabifashionista, has GOT YOU COVERED!

All the other women will be wearing dresses, and if they're chic enough, probably a few gorgeous wrap dresses. Now, what's a hijabi to wear? You won't have to stand in front of your closet for long with these great tips:

- go for a long skirt, one that hits the ankles and pair it with some fabulous ankle boots that you want to show off!
-wear a flowy, baggy, feminine top. Sound impossible? Not really. Look at the one above I chose for this outfit. The bow makes it feminine and it being flowy and loose make it perfect for a garden party which to me is a party of professional effortless beauty. To make the top professional, don't wear a longsleeve underneath, but rather a light blazer that matches the skirt.

White is a great color for this occasion because it's crisp, clean, beautiful, and professional!

Looking this good, don't party too hard.
[haha. it was a joke ;) ]

A Hijabifashionista's spin on Business

A business suit? Puh-leez! Unless it's made by Zara, I say, Let's put together our own outfits that will work just as well in the board room.
This look will keep you looking professional, without sacrificing your flair for fashion!

Black and white are my fav colors for fashion when I'm feeling like not trying too hard... but let's put in a little more effort and stray away from the drab black and white suit. Brown and beige are equally professional, and look even better ;)

I'm sticking with the mid-calve look with skirts because they are so chic! A tall boot and maybe some legging underneath will keep you covered and worry free!

NOTE: want to know what's in this season? fading colors! Just this weekend I was at Aldo and saw two pairs of pumps fading into eachother- yellow fading into white, and then pink fading into white. THey were FABULOUS! But, seeing as I'm on a student budget, I'll wait for the price to come down a little but don't worry girls, I didn't leave empty handed, i just walked over to Payless and bought some CHIC faux crocodile beige pumps with a wooden heel! I love them! They love me! We were made for eachother! ANYWAY, this faded top will keep you up there with fashionistas - maybe even leading the pack!

Hijabifashionista tip:
Just because fading is in, doesn't mean you can go digging up your old tie dye tops and calling them "vintage" sisters.. don't get me started!

The next time your boss says to 'suit up', let them know that fashion is definatly SUITable! ;)

Can't find those wide legs I'm always talking about??

If you can't find wide legs (like if your city isn't that fashion forward, or you don't have time or something to go scouting some) WHy not just wear a pair of loose dress pants?
HIJABIFASHIONISTA TIP:
When it comes to dress pants, white and brown can easily be dressed down!

So you can wear them more casually - and with anything!! I created the outfit above to show you how easy it is to dress down a brown pair. a loose top, and an open vest says casual all around. If you're just so glamorous and that isn't enough, wooden bangles and a vintage looking bag should do the trick!

<3 HijabiFashionista

Forget wanting to wear mini skirts and shorts, Widelegs keep you feeling cool!

I want to see more sisters in widelegs.. and not just sisters.. but GIRLS, WOMEN.. anyone!
SURPRISINGLY.. these widelegs are soo slimming! because you're under there somewhere... not necessarily right under the fabric or 5inches under! Also, what makes one look even more fashionable, is having them high-waisted.
We all walk down the street wishing we could wear those shorts (besides the unmodest part) but because they are summer-y, they are the summer dress code here in the west. As hijabis, we follow a different dress code - but like the others, ours isn't the same from winter-summer, summer-winter. Make widelegs your summer choice if not your year-round choice because they keep you cool rather than hot, and looking hot rather than not!
Wear a simple top, and maybe some beads to dress it up!

You'll love how you look in Olive Green!

This post? Because I LOVE OLIVE GREEN!!!

With your outfits, remember to pay attention to details. A nice olive green bag, flats with all kinds of print on them, and whether or not you're going to wear your aviators or your bug sunglasses today. Either way, olive green will always look good, and will always be one of my favorite colors (plus i love olives! yumm).

Hijabifashionista Tip:
Watch out for details; just because your shirt is suuuper cute, doesn't mean it'll look great worn any way. In fact, that gorgeous shirt can look "just okay" if the rest of your outfit isn't on par. Just because it's a cute blue top, doesn't mean you can wear any blue hijab, or any white hijab.. keep up the effort for the whole outfit, and watch for details.

How do you like olive green, and what colors do you think look great on what skin tones?

A cute coat can go a long way!

Coats are EVERYWHERE nowadays.. even in the summer.. and they are coming in lighter materials, so it's great for us hijabis trying to stay cool in the summer!

These coats are also coming in shorter sleeve lengths, but don't see that as a bad thing - it just gives us a chance to spice up the coat. Wear some sleeves with some kind of a pretty print that coordinates with your hijab or shoes.

Gladiator sandals are sooooooooo cute this season, they'd be a great addition to any fashionista's wardrobe!

BAGSBAGSBAGS! make them funky if your outfit is subtle.

ADD some hijabs to your wardrobe from stores like muslimbase.com or any others on the links on the right on this blog!

cheers!

Forget them applebottom jeans.. wide leg is all the RAGE!

Here is another example of how to incorporate one color into your outfit without over-doing it.

Blazers and Brights! out and about..

Blazers are nice.. and they've become more and more common. No one looks dressed up anymore when they wear them.. as long as they dress them down, or wear one of these cropped, short sleeved blazers. If you wore a full length sleeve blazer or a blazer in a dark color, you would look like you were dressed for fall, so if you can, get one in a bright color and short sleeved. Even if you're wearing a long sleeve under it, it'll just give the effect of a summer blazer (even if you're super hot underneath!)

For trousers-- wear loose, light colored trousers for the summer.. they'll keep you cool!

Hijabis in Hats: Purple!

Hijabis in hats: FEATURING A CUTE SEQUINED BERRET! try the berret on a hijab -- it looks great! this one is from purplestore.com...

Purple! What a gorgeous color! This color is really one that looks great on all skin tones! I'm a medium skin tone-- not to dark, but definatly not light.. I'm originally from Libya, but I can't say that I have a libyan skin tone because there are libyans of every color subhanallah.
Alhamdulilah Allah has created each and every one of us different than the other -- different in color is really what I'm getting at. The thing is though, some colors on clothing look better on some than they do others -- but there is good news, there's always a color for you!

Hijabifashionista tip:
You can build your outfit from one color.. just don't go head to toe in it! (dislike it when people do that.. atleast try diff shades of one!)

Hijabifashionista tip:
Hijabis think that they can't walk into an accessory store and buy a headband!! YOU CAN! you CAN! Buy a headband and wear it under your scarf, peeping out of your hijab!! Viola! stylin'.
