Egyptian Hijab Fashion Styles - Veil Art , Part 6
Two hijab fashion designs from an Egyptian viel designer, Ghada - didnt catch her last name. I'll have to watch them again and listen more closely.
The first style can be adapted to work pretty well with Western hijab fashions and everyday style, just add an al amira over tube or neck cover.
The second design similar to the Spanish wrap, is for soirees, parties and other ladies functions only. I love the forehead jewelry. It makes such a pretty addition to the style. Enjoy!

Are All Your Eternal Affairs in Order? - Missing Prayer and Pride
Bismillah Ir Rahman Ir Rahim.
Today, instead of posting a cute outfit or random commentary on fashion, I thought i'd take a step back to the basics of what is MOST important in this life. How often do you miss prayer because you're IM-img, blogging, e-shopping, texting, or updating your Myspace/Facebook page? Be honest, how often???
So my question today is: Are all your eternal affairs in order? What if today was your last day, last hour in this life?. Do you have prayers or fasting that you've been putting off, and need to make up? Have you given all the zakat you owe? Have you made the point to apologize to people you may have hurt? Have you righted all the wrongs in your life? If you havent, what are you waiting for?
Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah. For Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."- Qur'an, 39:53.
Our Lord is the Oft Forgiving, the Most Merciful. Have we really taken the time to ask for forgiveness for EVERYTHING? Have we made the point to forgive and ask for forgiveness - even from those that we dont want to, dont like, or dont feel deserve it?
What is more important: Holding a grudge and being self righteous, clinging to ones' pride and arrogance, or humbling oneself, seeking forgiveness and preparing your soul for the Hereafter?
Watch this short video from Aqim Salatak. Its a great, poignant reminder that this life is a test, and could be over at a moments notice.
Peace and Love.

The Great Niqab Debate

What is the niqab? For our non-Muslim readers, it is most commonly known as the face veil. And what i bet you didnt know is that a great debate rages within Muslim communities about whether or not it is Fard (required), Mustahaab (loved, a good thing to do - but not required) ...all the way down the line to a cultural practice that is not Islamic. Blog wars get started over this topic! It is important to note that the majority of the Muslim scholars have agreed that the niqab in general is Mustahaab. It is a choice that Muslim women make, just like they choose to wear hijab. But the hijab however, is required Islamically speaking. Do all Muslim women choose to wear hijab? No, some don't. It is a personal decision that every Muslim woman makes. This is between her and her Creator.
Anyhow, the niqab has stirred up so much attention in Western soceties because it is automatically associated with oppression of women, and loss of their human rights. Unfortunately, many people over here never get to actually talk to a woman who wears it. So i thought i'd post this two-part video where a saudi women who wears niqab and journalist for an English paper, allows cameras into her home and answers all those questions that my non-Muslim friends have brought up. Enjoy!
The videos are in English :)
