Just touring...

So there's one month of summer left and we're all trying to get our last minute vacations in. And you know, when you're out in another country, you're repping the country you're coming from, but more importantly - you're representing all other hijabis. Now, I'm not telling you to behave, because i'm sure you've got that down, but atleast you know the next time you're touring, you'll look faaaabulous!


What i want you to focus on in the outfit above, is the jacket. Fall is quickly approaching subhanallah and stores are just starting to stock up on jackets just like the one above in all colors and materials! I was at the mall yesterday alhamdulilah and I saw a really cute biege cordurouy jacket I liked - along with quite a few others.

Remember that you'll be walking around a lot so keep your feet comfy. BUT DON'T let your father talk you into wearing men's hiking boots (story of my life haha) but rather walk around in some pretty flats - heels just won't cut it! Some non-chunky sneakers would also do well!

The turkish style hijab always spells out prim, proper, fun, and approachable - so just tie those up!

Don't forget your wide legs... or your camera!

A play on grey

They're everywhere ladies! Cardigans? Not just any cardigans.. the ones where it's long in the front, and shorter in the back (hey sounds like a bob..). These are soo great because you can dress them up or down, you can tie the front, etc.

I put a casual blouse under it, but you can also put a collared top under it, or even a cute licenced tee. You can put a thin belt around the whole cardigan and the top all together, or you can wear a thick belt over the top you're wearing and under the cardigan. You can even wear a belt over this top above - a thick black one with the cardigan over top, or a thin one around the cardigan with the blouse underneath.

I want one. i saw a few at the mall today, but I think I was craving ice cream so bad, i went straight to dairy queen and walked past it hehe. Insha allah I'll get one later.

It's a gray matter...

gray or grey? I really don't know the difference and I use them both interchangeably so excuse me if you know the difference and are getting annoyed haha. It shouldn't matter though, because what we care for is the color itself! I loove gray! It's always in.

What else do I love, you ask? wrap dresses! (check previous post; all wrapped up). I would wear this gray dress with white wide leg pants (wide yoga pants would work as well) because there are white accents on the gray dress. How do you wear the hijab? You don't want to button the shirt up right to the top, because then you'll look all stuffed in there, so you unbutton the dress a few down (3-5) and tuck the hijab in where the top is open. p.s. you're not having deja vu, I've mentioned this before ;)

Of course, I had to include food.. :D

Hijab Poem

There are are a lot of hijabi poems out there that are really inspiring. It seems a little harsh when it compares a girl in hijab to a girl who dresses immodestly, but it's still one of my favorites. The author is unknown which really sucks because the poem is so good I think they need some recognition. I know a sister who when I gave her this poem, she printed it out, framed it and put it up in her room as a little inspirational reminder everyday. It's really fun and modern. Loove it!

All some people can do is just look and stare

But because people are ignoring the One up above

Maybe the guys won't think I am a cutie

It's all navy, baby ! ; How to spice up that drab school uniform!

What is with islamic schools choosing white and navy as their uniform colors? Who cares! It looks good- and the colors are so basic that you can do pretty much anything with them! A sister asked me how she could spice up her school uniform of a navy skirt and white tunic with a hijab of any color. Here goes girls.. I had to stop myself from showing you more outfits so I could go to bed haha.

This photo above is one I made of various white tunics and how to spice them up - very simple, you can probably go to your wardrobe and create a few new outfits from what you already have!

This post is kind of like a whole lot of my hijabifashionista tips in one! Here's one you might remember; "When you're having one of those mornings where you don't know what to wear and you don't really feel like thinking about it, wear a simple top and a nice hijab." ... or something along those lines (from a previous post). This fits well with the top ensemble on the bottom of the picture above -a simple babydoll and a nice turkish style hijab... THEEEN a long necklace, and you're good to go.. actually even better, you're looking finnne sister hah.

When you're going to the mall for those back to school outfits, be sure to pick up a decorated white tunic, one with that "little extra" already attached. This works well with the tunic right smack in the middle of the pic above. This way, you can look good with little or no effort - just a nice navy hijab to compliment the accents on the top!

Something REALLY simple that looks really well put together is a vest over that white tunic. With a nice hijab that works well with the style of the vest you're good to go!

Last but certainly not least... a cardigan over a nice white tunic is a light, simple and great look to go for!

This outfit above is one I made just to show you that you can wear a navy skirt with a few white accents without breaking any rules--- you're just bending them a bit, and you're still being modest so it's all good! A cute gladiator sandal can go a long way!

For those days that you want to look just a little more special - or maybe you're just sick of wearing skirts all the time and you don't have gym class, instead of wearing a skirt, wear a navy dress. Cover up the top (usually the most formal part of the dress) with a blazer that you DEF. need if you're going to work with this uniform for a whole year. Just don't go with heels or anything-- unless you really feel like it, to dress it down, just wear a casual flat.

Now this is a picture of a bunch of ways you could quickly spice up that outfit without stressing in front of the mirror every morning. A long necklace will spice up any white tunic. If you can't find any long ones in the stores, but one you like and attach string to the back and keep that part tucked under your hijab (check verry early posts for this tip with more detail). Buy some necklaces (or you might have them in your closet) with really large charms at the end.

Footwear is easy, footwear is great. Don't underestimate the power of footwear - it can make or break an outfit.

Bags, bags. Backpacks are for uni students and little children - in highschool, there's no need. Big bags are what's up and you'll always look stylin no matter what.

Red Miranda Kuwaiti Al Amira Hijab

Kuwaiti Al Amira Hijab ( also known as the "Mona" style) has attatched shayla and satin edgeing. The stretchy al amira tube is simply pulled over the head and neck. Then the attatched shayla is wrapped over the head and pinned. This chic style is very popular among teenage muslimahs!

Going out for lunch..

So a sister asked me what to wear with a white tunic with embroidery around the cuffs, and I believe I'm a bit late in the reply, and i'm sure you still looked great masha allah, but maybe for the next time you wear it you'll have a different spin on things.

Now, the most basic thing to do is wear a hijab the color of the embroidery- seeing as you can wear anything with white as long as it works with the style of the top. This is a very basic, clean cut look.

Another idea is to wear a hijab in a solid tone (don't choose a random color haha, rather, choose the dominant color of the top) and wear a headband the color of the embroidery underneath.


Just remember not to wear a hijab with embroidery as well - or else the hijab and the tunic will be competing, and the outfit won't be balanced.
