WHERE ARE THOSE WIDE LEGS?

So i'm alllwaaayyyss posting on them.. I am in love with them, so where am I finding these wide legs, and where can you get them? I have that all, right here in this post!


So the reason you're probably not finding wide legs in stores are two things;
1) You aren't looking in the right places
2) They are high fashion so stores that only sell "trendy" clothing probablywouldn't have them!

Myself, I prefer shopping at stores that don't sell things that are "trendy". I mean - brand names (because unless I am really into the item - brand names usuallymean an easy way out and in that light, they are terribly unfashionable). But I'm not banningthose "trendier stores" because not only do they fit into my budget but also the do have some really nice pieces, or plain tops.

- Wide yoga pants - any yoga store like lulu lemon, or the normal trendier stores like wet seal, forever21..
- wide leg jeans - joe fresh (superstore), american eagle, khols
- wide leg dress pants - anywhere that sells more formal clothing - reitmans, rickis or even zellers has a pair of black ones! kohls, suzy cher, and even smartset had a pair - emphasis on HAD because when I went to get them they DISSAPPEAREd! unfair.

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful!

SO we all know I'm in love with dresses (hence all 2o something dresses I posted on previously), and especially for the summer! We can't wear tiny little ones so why stick with trousers allll summer? What's breezier than a dress? Well, a skirt is a good choice too - but that's besides the matter.. heh

These are only four dresses from monsoon.co.uk so if you have that summer wedding to attend, a formal gathering, or maybe you're already on the look out for a graduation dress for next june - monsoon has a great selection to choose from.

I couldn't find the prices of the first three but the last one it 180 pounds, so the rest must be around that seeing as they're all around the same formality.

Muslim T.V shows....!!

Salaam Sisters! Alright so I heard about this Turkish show called; gumus and I got really excited because I thought it would be a hijabi fashionista soap.. but I soon found out that it was just my imagination and I got really dissappointed... OOHH and It was going to be soo GOOD too.. women in turkish hijab styles,,, wearing clothing by setrms and hijabs by aker.. :( This is the cast below. Dissappointing? I think so! I'm sure it's a good soap though.. I'm not interested anymore
BUT THEN! I remembered a show I had read about in my Muslim Girl Magazine called "Kalam Nawaem" - an arabic talk show meaning "sweet talk". Muslim Girl Magazine (I think it was) introduced it to its readers as an arabic version of The View. I LOVE THE VIEW! So I watched like half an episode (all I could find) on youtube with sami yusif on it.. or was it yusif islam? I ALWAYS mix those two up... NOOO it was sami yusif. My dad's a cat steven's fan. Here are a few pictures of the hosts.... LOOK! A hijabi! hah
The hijabi's name is "Muna Abusulayman" And I believe she is an ambassador as well.. :D Masha allah tabarak allah! -- and look how well dressed she is!

Gorrrgeeouus tunic!

Her tunic here isn't goorgeeouus- as in, there isn't too much that stands out - but still, with a nice hijab, she wears it well!

AH! a caftan!
CAN someone pleeasse fill me in on who this hijabi is? Is muna out? Like star? :(


Oh well.. she wears it well too.. :D hehe

Transition into seasons without breaking your bills...

CRASHBAMBOOM!...erm.. sorry mr. piggie... (oh wait, maybe a cow? lamb? would be better?), and you realize you just killed your piggie bank for a few quarters and cents (Allah knows I have!) .. then you get all depressed - too bad I won't be able to "work it" this season..

We all think that when a new season arrives, we have to buy toootaaallly new wardrobes, and when we know we're broke.. we just plain, break down.

GUESS WHAT SISTERS? Use that bit of money left over from your summer vacations, and shopping sprees etc. to buy a few accessories - scarves, must have items from an accessory store, a pair of boots .. or two, and maybe a few basic tops you can wear more than one way.

Here is how to change a plain outfit to fit the season's new trends;

1) Buy accessories in colors that fit the season's standards

2) Remember your hijab can completly change your outfit - and that's a good thing. Choose your hijabs wisely!

Fashion Hijab Style

Our Ramadan Hijab Style is made of two plain shayla hijabs. This style is regal, and great for Iftars or get-togethers.

What you need: 2 plain shayla hijabs, several hijab broaches, a neck/bust cover.

Step one: Tie your hair in a bun at the nape of your neck.

Step two: Put on the neck cover or al amira hood to ensure neck and chest coverage*. Note: An al amira hood, or neck cover will not fully cover your bust. You'll need something else in addition to it.

Step three: Place the black chiffon shayla hijab in the middle on top of your head. Bring the two end pieces together evenly in the back and tie beneath your bun.

Step Four: Wrap one side on the black chffon shayla around your neck and secure with a hijab broach. Leave the other end free.

Step Five: Put on the red shayla over your head the same way you put on the black chifon one, but leave about an inch of the black one showing for contrast. Leave both ends free.

Step Six: Take the free ends of both the black shayla and one of the red shayla and twist them together as shown in the picture.

Step Seven: Bring them up and around over the top of your head like a crown. Then take the other end of the red shayla and tie a basic knot with the twisted shaylas and single red one.

Step Eight: Flare the shayla's at the side of your head. Pin if necessary to hold style. Done!

Pack Rat

SOoo seeing as it's august, and some of us are squeezing summer dry with that last vacation (and of course others just wish they could), I thought I'd show you a bit of hijabifashionista packing, and a few tips. p.s. this is based on a 5 day trip

So when I go anywhere - no matter how long, I try to be pretty organized with my packing. Take camp for instance, I always open all my drawers and look through my closet and I write down lists of outfits I would want to take with me.

So what to pack?
Tunics for sure.. weather is just getting warmer, and those light, gorgeous materials are just perrrfect! Maybe a caftan! Don't forget those gorgeous tanks!

Also, white trousers if you own them, and a pair of jeans and another default pair.

If you're the kind of hijabi who needs a million hijabs - one for each outfit, then take a whole bunch - they don't take a lot of room anyway! But if you have a small case, then look at your tunics - can you wear a white one with multiple? A black one? Then take those two. Make sure you have one in a bright color so your hijabs aren't too simple everyday of the vacation! You want to wow yourself years later when you look back at those pictures, don't you?

Of course, long sleeved tops - but you don't need many, maybe one and a sleeves, or two and sleeves. Sleeves are great because they're easy to put on, and they're great for the summer weather - you don't want to wear 2 tops everyday!

pajamas and lounge wear - if that's a caftan - so be it, if it's a hoodie - take only one, and take only one pair of pajamas - you don't need a diff one for every night!

Last but not least - accessories like bangles, belts, watches, a bag, your wallet, your makeup bag, SUNGLASSES (make 'em BIG) and whatever else you might need!

Hijabifashionista packing tips:
-Make sure when you're creating outfits, use one piece in more than one outfit! That ='s more outfits, more room in your case!
-I ALWAYS add extra accessories because they can undoubtably change any outfit.

I love packing, if you never did - i think now you might!

Fall/winter trend update!

So far, we've covered taking inspiration from art, from fashion photos, advertisements, and putting our own spin on particular trends - however, what I find surprising is that I haven't yet covered following haute couture - hot off the runway (seeing as I'm always updating myself)! So the most recent fashion shows have been showing the latest trends for fall/winter and fall ready to wear. SOOOO what's this have to do with you? Well, we're going to profile what's new for fall so that you're one step ahead of the game. Also, what's the harm seeing as stores are already stocking up on the latest fall fashions? Atleast now you'll know what to buy, and how to wear it hijabi style...

TUNICS--

So the first picture from micheal kors collection, and the second is burbery porsum (you can always tell when it's burbery) and I posted it first because it shows off what's hot for fall - and girls you will be happy when I tell you that fall fashion is basically defined with one word - TUNICS!

This first pic above, as you can see, the model is wearing grey head to toe - (erm, should I say neck to toe). DON"T DO THIS, as a hijabi you can't go one color head to toe - especially since you wear a hijab (duhh) and i would bet you would wear a gray hijab as well. IF you are really into that, then i would suggest adding some off color accessories - put in a black belt (or bright pink, it doesn't really matter), or wear darker pants. One way to spice up a tunic (and I've posted on this before) is a thin belt!
The outfit by Burbery can teach us something different than kors' - big goddy necklaces and jewlery! Especially when going with a plain top, unless you're wearing your most sparkly hijab, go with a simple hijab and a huge charm on your necklace! ---Long necklace by the way.

hijabifashionista tip- what's not in for fall (unlike spring/summer and what we're wearing now) are mini dresses, fall is strictly for tunics and that means they shouldn't be any lower than midthigh (at a maximum). If you're going beyond that, you're sporting a mini dress, and don't be surprised if a fellow fashionista tells you that you're SO LAST SEASON!

Fringing, Pattern, and Furs---

So three more things hot for fall/winter - fringing, patterns, and furs!

We learn from the outfit by Gucci, patterns are still in (just like they were for the summer - remember previous posts) But they may not be as big and bold, rather more folky patterns in deeper colors than the summer's brights.
Gualtier shows us that fur is in, and even so much as to wear a whole coat of it! For me, I do wear leather, but for some reason it wouldn't feel right to wear a real fur coat.. what do you sisters think of the matter?
And finally armani NEVER fails to dissappoint me with the deep make up and a dress I will probably never wear, but always admire. Tassels, a little fringy grunge is again in for fall - one of my favorite looks!


If it wasn't haraam, I would bet all of you will make some good choices while shopping for the fall season!
